Why does flower smell funky if not in water rightaway?

Because they are dying, and as a result, as they wilt and breakdown, gasses are created and released by bacteria, and evaporation of water within the flowers causes odors to be noticable

Hope this helps,

Flowers smell bad because their stems start to rot as soon as they are picked. Changing the water regularly for cut flowers is just about the only way to keep this from happening.
Reply:Because flowers are living things and do poo as well, it%26#039;s true and their poo stinks, so if not in water, you gotta cut the stem every now and thenperforming arts
